| GREETINGS Asian Pacific Academy of Cosmetic Surgery | |

Globalization of Cosmetic Surgery is now in the making among nations in Asia and the Pacific Rim. The World Symposium in Caucasian and Oriental Cosmetic Surgery, jointly conceived and concretize by the Asian Pacific Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and Chinese Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is indeed timely and an excellent opportunity for interaction and update with regards to continuous innovations in ideas, technologies, skills and instrumentations. Concept of
beauty is becoming less ethnic and regional but rather becoming more
global and universal in appearance. I admire that Dr. Tetsuo Shu,
President of Asian Pacific Academy of Cosmetic Surgery has tried his every
effort to put Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons together, and this is the
first time that world famous plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons will
share their specialties through hands-on surgery, I trust that experts and
participants will usher in a new era in the practice of cosmetic
surgery. Congratulations to Chinese Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery for the magnificent effort to organize this World Congress in
Cosmetic Surgery. It is a
pleasure to see how Dr. Shu and Prof. Chang have work together to
coordinate this magnificent program, including Live Surgery. Warm

| WELCOME MESSAGE Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery | |
| My friend, Dr. Shu is planning to
make " The World Congress of Cosmetic Surgery with Live Surgical
Demonstrations" in Shanghai, on October 26-29, 2002. I think the Asian Pacific plastic surgeons can be better than western colleagues in the field of cosmetic surgery. Especially, western plastic surgeons are lack of surgical experiences in Oriental people. Therefore, it must be very meaningful for cosmetic surgeons in Asian Pacific region to meet together and share their experiences each other. Furthermore, this meeting will be a good chance to update one's surgical ability by a new form of hands-on surgical demonstrations. I do believe that this meeting will make a great contribution to the progress of plastic surgery, especially in the field of cosmetic surgery. So I would like to recommend Korean and my fellow Asian Pacific plastic surgeons to participate this meeting. I hope that this meeting will succeed for the future of cosmetic plastic surgery for the Asian Pacific people and I would like to appreciate Dr. Shu and members of APACS for their great effort. Yoon-Ho Lee, M.D., Ph.D. Chairman, Dept. of Plastic &
Reconstructive Surgery, |

Dear Friends
: As the 21st Century starts to
unfold, we witness the significant role of Aesthetic Surgery, as it has
become one of the most sought after specialties in the medical field, as
well as of surgical beautification procedures
that according to
statistics, are the most frequently performed among elective
interventions. There is a
reason behind this, the growing awareness of people concerning their
aesthetical image and the flaws that could taint it as well as the
knowledge of available possibilities for aesthetical improvement through
the use of our specialty and services. Our mission,
as Aesthetic Surgeons, is to achieve the results desired by our patients,
in order to satisfy their wishes concerning their aesthetic image while
realistically guiding their expectation in this regard. To better
serve this purpose, it is imperative to attend Congresses such as this
one, the III World Congress on Cosmetic Surgery organized in millenary
China by Dr. Tetsuo Shu, an outstanding and well known Aesthetic Cosmetic
Surgeon, who is taking on the great challenge and hard work involved in
setting up an event of this kind. I welcome you, and invite you to enjoy an excellent
Congress, as well as China’s traditional hospitality, and the exchange of
knowledge and experiences that will be conveyed by each one of speakers,
while we learn what is new in our field. Beauty is what inspires humanity and drives our
profession. Eduardo Krulig, M.D. President, |

| Dear Colleagues:
I congratulate your efforts in organizing a meeting in Shanghai "The Shooting Star of Science and Medicine" in Asia. Up to now the cooperation between European and Asian doctors has been missing. I feel this would be the best opportunity for us to build up this bridge between our continents. In the past the European Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons has invited Asian doctors to our meetings and offered them minimal registration fees. This is not enough for our future works. I believe that we have to learn more from each other especially our side from the Asians because classical medicine can not go further and old Chinese medicine should show us the real way to helping patients. Kind regards, Ziya Saylan, M.D. President,

The beauty can be defined as a whole of characteristics exciting some emotions. On this philosophic definition is based the real motivation of many aesthetic surgery operations. Our patients like achieving their aesthetic harmony to help their human relations and love themselves more. A lot of un-aestheticisms. like the cellulites, the obesity, the palpebral ptosis, the nasal septum curvature as well as gynecomastia are also related to aesthetic pathologies that need a precise diagnosis and a perfect integration with medical, surgical, and physiotherapeutic therapies. A doctor, especially an aesthetic surgeon's duty is very delicate, because, it needs a social medicine function too. The professional growth is absolutely important for a doctor, in particular for an aesthetic surgeon, to have a chance in practice cosmetic surgery with a continuous interchange of technologies, experiences, opinions and case histories. In this view point, the next International hanghai 2002 World Congress will represent one of the most important model of learning the beauty from different operating surgeons, because it will be a great opportunity for a cultural exchange between experts of different countries and specialty. In order to improve and compare their experiences, plastic and aesthetic surgeons should be united together. Finally it could be a real occasion to visit a beautiful country and a great population which contributed to human history and to the art of beauty.

Aesthetic Surgery ?University of Siena - Italy |
